The newest attempt to make Windows PCs, Android, and iOS devices work together seamlessly is coming from Intel. We are talking about the Intel Unison software tool which has just been announced. It is claimed to deliver features on both Android and iOS which is not possible with other tools. The company is even touting a simple pairing process between devices.
The Unison tool will allow users to access text messages and phone calls through a PC. It will support sharing files across devices regardless of the platform. One unique thing is that it will even offer remote control options like touchscreen controls, a mouse, and a keyboard. These controls will work with both smartphones and tablets.
The connection between Android/iOS and Windows will be established through WiFi or Bluetooth. The exact performance level will vary based on the connectivity. Some of the features like multiparty messaging will not be available on iPhone due to obvious reasons. Even the third-party notification management will depend on the particular app.
Intel says Unison will be available for 13th Gen Intel CPU devices starting early 2023. The compatibility also expands to select 12th Gen Intel Evo laptops including from OEMs like Lenovo, HP, and Acer. In other words, the availability appears to be pretty limited which is the major disappointing part of the new tool. In terms of smartphones, Android devices need to be running at least Android 9 and iOS devices will need to be running at least iOS 15.
