Valve has finally released the revamped Steam application for Android and iOS users. The app was under beta testing for the last few months with select users. It replaces the previous app which became outdated and was quite clunky. The new app also comes loaded with a couple of new features that make it more usable.
The first major change in the Steam app is support for sign-in via QR code. It will allow users to sign into their Steam accounts without the need for entering a username/password or Steam Guard code. The only thing a user needs to do is to scan the QR code using the device on which the app is installed. The app will also show a map with the geolocation of the device so that users can check they are approving a log-in request from the correct device.
If someone does not want to scan a QR code, they can also sign in via prompts shown in the app. It will show Approve and Deny prompts which the user will need to choose accordingly. This particular method will need you to enter the username and password on the device you are trying to log in. It will only save you from the hassle of entering the Steam Guard code.
Another important addition to the app is the ability to remotely download Steam games on your PC. You simply need to tap the Download button on the app and it will show you a list of linked PC devices. The next step is to choose the PC on which you want to download the game and that's it. The app will also show alerts for price drops on games in your wishlist.
