Razer has announced its handheld gaming console called Razer Edge. It is available in two variants: WiFi-only and 5G. The latter makes it the world's first 5G handheld gaming console. The company has partnered with Verizon to work on the 5G variant running Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband. It will go on sale slightly later than the WiFi variant.

The Razer Edge is essentially an Android tablet bundled with detachable controllers. The device has a 6.8-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 processor and is coupled with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It is available with onboard storage of 128GB.

The console will have pre-installed launchers like Epic Games. It will support cloud gaming services like NVIDIA GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It will further work with services like Steam Link, Xbox, Parsec, and Moonlight. Since it is an Android device, it will also support Android games. Razer is claiming it will have thousands of AAA titles compatible with the device.

There is a 5,000mAh battery to keep the lights on. Its connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6E, and Sub 6/mmWave 5G depending on the variant you have. It also has 2-way speakers with Verizon Adaptive Sound and 2 digital microphones. The console will boot Android 12 out of the box.

The WiFi-only model will go on sale starting January 2023 but Razer Edge 5G will be available in early 2023. The WiFi variant will be sold via RazerStore and website but the 5G availability will be exclusive to Verizon.
