Honor has announced a new smartphone Play 40 Plus in China. It is essentially a budget-oriented mid-range smartphone aimed at buyers looking for a good device without spending a lot. The main highlight of the phone is its huge battery which is the biggest you will find on any Honor smartphone.
The Honor Play 40 Plus sports a 6.74-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) TFT LCD notched display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it has the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with ARM Mali-G57 GPU. It is available with 8GB RAM but an additional 5GB of virtual RAM can be added using unused storage space. The phone has 256GB of onboard storage space which is the only option.
The phone has dual rear cameras featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera on the phone is a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The whole package is powered by a 6,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support. It will boot Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 12 out of the box.
Honor has priced the Play 40 Plus at CNY 1,199 (about $278) for the sole 8GB/256GB variant. It will be available in Charm Sea Blue, Magic Night Black, Titanium Empty Silver, and Xianxia Purple color options.
