Samsung's Maintenance Mode will keep your data safe during repairs

26 October 2022 2

Whenever we have to submit our phone at a service center, there is always a risk of someone trying to get access to our personal data including photos and videos. One solution is to take a backup and delete everything before submitting the phone but you may forget to do so. This is where Samsung wants to help its users with the introduction of Maintenance Mode.

Maintenance Mode is a security feature that will be available on select Galaxy smartphones starting with Galaxy S22. It was initially launched in China followed by a pilot test in South Korea. Both these phases proved successful and as a result, it has now been announced for all users around the world. The mode essentially blocks access to users' personal data including apps, text messages, contacts, photos, and videos.

Samsung says technicians will still be able to use the core functions of the device and install new apps from the Galaxy Store. The only thing they will not be able to access is your personal data. Another good thing is that any data or app installed on the device during Maintenance Mode will get deleted automatically whenever it will be turned off.

The Maintenance Mode can be enabled by visiting Settings > Battery and Device Care > Maintenance Mode. The phone will reboot after which the mode will get enabled. The mode can be exited by tapping the quick settings icon and then using your fingerprint scanner to authenticate the move.

Seungwon Shin, VP and Head of Security Team at Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics said,

“Our whole lives are on our phones, from credit card information to family photos. With Maintenance Mode, we are giving extra reassurance that Galaxy users can keep their privacy, even if they hand their phone to someone. This is just the latest example of our constant efforts to introduce new ways to make people feel safe and in control, so they can explore new mobile experiences with peace of mind, knowing we have their back.”

I am making $165 an hour working from home. I was greatly surprised at the same time as my neighbor advised me she changed into averaging $ninety five however I see the way it works now. I experience masses freedom now that I'm my non-public boss.
