Amazon has offered music benefits as part of Prime membership for quite some time. However, it was very limited and users had access to just 2 million tracks. It is changing that finally by expanding Amazon Music's complete catalog of over 100 million tracks to all Prime subscribers around the world.
The announcement reveals the whole music catalog will be available ad-free and with offline download support. The only catch is these tracks will not available as on-demand access. The users will have to shuffle-play any artist, album, or playlist to start listening. This is still a welcome addition as users do not have to pay anything extra. If you want benefits like on-demand access, HD quality streaming, and spatial audio, you will have to pay for the Music Unlimited tier.
The team is further bringing ad-free access to many of the popular podcasts. It is claiming the catalog to be the "most ad-free top podcasts available on-demand". There will be shows from the likes of ESPN, CNN, NPR, and The New York Times. It will offer Amazon Exclusive podcasts and shows like Baby, this is Keke Palmer; MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories; Suspect: Vanished in the Snow; COLD Season Three: The Search for Sheree; Killer Psyche Daily; and I Hear Fear.
Podcast Previews is a new feature that Amazon is bringing to Prime Music. It is meant to help listeners discover new podcasts by listening to an audio preview. These are said to be curated clips designed to introduce new listeners to podcasts and make it easier for existing podcast fans to find their next favorite show. All of these changes are available with the latest Prime Music application update that you can download from the Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS devices.
