Like many Chinese OEMs, Vivo has different Android skins for its Chinese and rest of the world users. It ships phones with OriginOS in China and Funtouch OS globally. It recently debuted Funtouch OS 13 as the newest version and now, it has taken wraps off OriginOS 3 in China. It is also based on Android 13 which is the latest Android version available.
OriginOS 3 brings a new visual design that will help users focus on what matters the most. There are also visual elements that make the new version look great. There is a new small-window multi-tasking experience that will make working across multiple applications a lot more efficient. It will even keep games running in real time through these small windows.
The sidebar available in OriginOS will now get a lot smarter with the update. It will now be able to see what you are up to and offer app suggestions based on the context. It can now draw small windows, and match applications to corresponding videos, and information scenes among others. Users can have three tasks and three applications that can run simultaneously on the same screen.
There are seven new preset focus modes to help users get things done without getting distracted. These are related to do not disturb, work, personal, reading, exercise, sleep, and meditation. There are a bunch of customization features like dynamic wallpapers, dynamic colors, icon mode, realistic weather visual updates, and offline input method.
Vivo has also made a bunch of under-the-hood performance improvements to OriginOS. These are said to make phones a lot faster, power consumption efficient, and better RAM management. The new software experience will start rolling out on November 25th on eligible devices in China.
