Google is long rumored to be working on a foldable smartphone. It is referred to under different names but Pixel Fold has been the commonly reported name. Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech has now shared the biggest Pixel Fold leak yet. He has shared high-quality renders showing the product design, specifications, pricing, and possible launch timeline.
The renders leak shows the Pixel Fold with a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The foldable is internally codenamed "Passport" which makes sense after looking at the appearance. The exact display sizes for both external and internal panels are unknown. However, the primary display appears to be big enough for all sorts of multi-tasking needs and media consumption. You can also check out the big bezels on all four sides of the foldable.
The Pixel Fold is said to have a 9.5-megapixel punch-hole selfie camera on the external display. The internal display will also have a selfie camera but it will not be inside the punch-hole. It is expected to be inside the thick bezel on the top side. The rear camera module on the phone is similar to the Pixel 7 Pro. The only difference is that the whole module is now raised instead of being a merged bar.
The leak does not offer any other detail about the foldable's specifications. Prosser does claim that Pixel Fold is quite heavy to hold suggesting it is made up of sturdier materials instead of plastic. It will have a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button which is not an uncommon sight on smartphones.
Prosser says Pixel Fold will sell for $1,799 which easily makes it out of reach for the majority of the buyers. However, it is not shocking as all high-end foldable phones cost the same. Google has opted for Obsidian and Chalk color options which are basically Black and White colors. As for the launch date, it is expected to be made official in May 2023 alongside the Pixel Tablet.
