WhatsApp has announced that 3D avatars are finally available for everyone worldwide. These avatars are similar to what Meta already offers on Facebook and Instagram. These are fully customizable so that they can match your actual appearance including your preferred fashion items and accessories.
The official blog post reveals there are billions of combinations available for users to create their unique 3D avatars. There are a variety of hairstyles, facial features, and outfits to choose from. Each avatar can be used as a profile photo for WhatsApp but it is not the only use case. Whenever an avatar is created, users will receive a sticker pack featuring 36 custom stickers showing different expressions and actions.
These custom stickers can be shared with family and friends just like you share any other sticker. The company says this is just the beginning and will continue to add style enhancements including lighting, shading, hairstyle textures, and more. The avatar rollout has begun and it may take some time before it appears on your particular WhatsApp account.
In other news, WhatsApp released Message Yourself functionality for all users. It is native support for sending a message, reminder, to-do list, and more to yourself. Users had to create a group and then remove participants from the group to be able to send texts to themselves. We will keep you posted as more features will be rolled out by the team.
