Twitter has confirmed Twitter Blue subscription will relaunch today in five countries. The subscription service was on hold for the last few days since Musk allowed anyone to get the verified tick by simply paying a monthly fee. This led to a rise in account impersonations and widespread misinformation. The company took its time to decide what's the best way to relaunch the service and now seems to be ready.
Twitter Blue continues to offer the verified Blue tick but it will become active only after due account verification. The process includes providing a phone number but the rest of it is unknown. It means like previously, users will not get the verified tick right away. Additionally, if someone decides to change their profile name, Twitter handle, or even the profile photo, you will lose the Blue tick until the account is reviewed again.
Apart from the Blue verified tick, the subscription will offer a bunch of additional benefits too. These include priority in replies, mentions, and search on the platform. All Blue users will see 50% fewer ads, post longer videos, post Full HD (1080p) videos, and get early access to new features that will be added to the platform.
Lastly, Twitter Blue will cost $11 per month on iOS but it will be $8 per month for transactions done via the web. The increased pricing on iOS due to Twitter's decision to avoid paying the App Store cut to Apple. As mentioned in the beginning, Twitter Blue relaunch will take place in five countries but the team is working on rapid expansion to other regions.
