Tesla's Holiday update is here with much-awaited features i.e. support for Steam games and Apple Music. Elon Musk, CEO and founder of Tesla, talked about the possibility of playing Steam games in a Tesla over a year ago. It got many Tesla users for obvious reasons but the wait stretched for a little too long.
It should be noted Steam support on Tesla is still in the beta stage. It is currently available exclusively for Tesla Model S and Model X models (2022 or newer) with 16GB of RAM. The users will also need to have Premium Connectivity to start playing video games inside their cars. The Steam store will allow users to download any supported game directly from the car. They can also resume their gameplay sessions on any other device. The announcement mentions access to thousands of games but we do not know how many of these will work smoothly and without any performance issues.
The second major addition coming to Tesla is support for Apple Music. It means users can now enjoy their favorite music, playlists, artists, and more on Apple Music directly from the car. The users will need to scan the QR code with the mobile device after launching the Apple Music application on the car. If they wish to stream music using a cellular connection, they will need to have a Premium Connectivity subscription.
The music streaming app support is available for Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y. The Holiday Update rollout has begun for eligible Tesla cars around the world. It should become available for you anytime soon if it has not already. We will keep you posted as the company will release other major changes.
