Twitter has officially announced Twitter Blue for Business, a subscription dedicated to brands and their affiliates. It is meant to help businesses differentiate themselves from accounts trying to impersonate them. It will also allow them to help recognize people on Twitter that actually work for them or are affiliated with them in any manner.
Once a brand has subscribed to Blue for Business, it can link any number of affiliated individuals, businesses, and brands to its account. All brands will have square-shaped profile pictures as compared to circular photos for other accounts. They will also have the Golden checkmark instead of the signature Blue one. These changes are meant to help users distinguish between brands and individual accounts with just a glance.
As for accounts affiliated with a brand, they will continue to have circular profile photos and Blue checkmarks. The only difference is that the profile photo of the brand will also be shown next to the checkmark. You can refer to the image shown below to get a better idea of how this change would work. This way, users will quickly know about the brand a particular individual account is affiliated with.
Twitter says Blue for Business is currently in the pilot stage and is available to a select group of businesses. It has plans to expand the subscription service to more businesses next year. An exact timeline is missing but we expect that to happen during the early phase of 2023. We will keep you posted if there are any new changes to these plans.
