Samsung has updated its Galaxy A-series with the new Galaxy A14 5G in the United States. As the name suggests, it is a budget smartphone with 5G connectivity. It is a direct upgrade over last year's Galaxy A13 5G but comes with noticeable improvements. Its major changes are related to the display resolution and camera performance.
The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G sports a 6.5-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) Infinity-V notched display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it has a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It is available in two configuration variants: 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. It supports microSD cards up to 1TB for storage expansion.
On the back, you will find triple cameras featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. There is a 13-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture housed inside the notch. The battery capacity is 5,000mAh with 15W fast charging. Other noteworthy features are a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth v5.1, and WiFi.
Samsung has priced the Galaxy A14 5G at $199.99 for the base 4GB/64GB model. Its color options are Silver, Black, Light Green, and Burgundy. The phone will go on sale starting January 13th in the US.
