Apple next-gen MacBook Pro models powered by M2 Pro and M2 Max processors are facing another release delay. This is as per a fresh report shared by Digitimes, a Taiwanese publication. There is another report which is from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claiming Apple also has a touchscreen MacBook Pro under development.
Starting with delayed MacBook Pro models, these are the ones rumored to come with M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets and a display size of 14-inch and 16-inch. These were initially expected to become available sometime during early 2023 but that is not said to be true anymore. The report does not mention a new release timeline but suggests another delay. It is quite possible we may see them in the second half of 2023 but this is just our speculation.
The second report from Gurman claims Apple is actively developing a new touchscreen MacBook Pro. The project is said to be in the early stages for now. This means it is not confirmed if Apple will actually release the product in the market. It seems like the company is experimenting with a new approach to see how feasible and market-fit would be such a device.
The touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to utilize an OLED panel instead of a Mini LED display. Gurman goes on to say even though the project is underway, Apple can decide to change anything about it at any time. It can even end up scrapping the project altogether if things do not turn up the way it has been expecting. In case the product does get a commercial release, he believes 2025 is the earliest it can happen.
