Opera is the newest web browser to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities to enhance the web browsing experience. It has announced a new ChatGPT-powered feature called Shorten for both PC and mobile browser clients. It will allow users to get a quick summary of the webpage or article opened in the browser.

Shorten is a button that will be visible on the right side of the address bar. A user first needs to open a webpage or article and then click on the button. This will trigger the ChatGPT tool in the left sidebar and open a small window. This is where the user will see a quick summary of the content on the webpage. This summary is represented in the form of bullet points which makes it more convenient for users to grasp what the content is about.

This is just one tool but Opera has plans to add popular AI-generated content services to the browser sidebar. It is also working on new features that will augment the browsing experience. It has not offered details about exactly what to expect from the browser but we can expect these to have some sort of AI capabilities.

If you are looking forward to using Shorten on Opera, the feature is yet to begin rolling out. There is no specific release timeline but Opera says it will become available on both the desktop and mobile browsers "very soon".
