It was late last year when OnePlus announced plans to provide longer software support to its devices. The plan includes providing major Android updates for four years and security updates for five years. The only catch is it is applicable to select smartphones released in 2023 and later. It meant flagships will certainly be included but nothing was confirmed about cheaper models.

Now, OnePlus has confirmed recently launched OnePlus 11R will benefit from the new software update cycle. The official OnePlus Support Twitter account replied with confirmation to a user's tweet. The reply tweet said, "OnePlus 11R device will receive 4 major Android updates and 5 years of security updates respectively."

Since OnePlus 11R launched with Android 13, buyers can expect Android version upgrades until Android 17. There will obviously be security updates during this tenure which will be released on a bi-monthly basis. The confirmation makes it the second OnePlus smartphone after the OnePlus 11 5G to get such a long software update.
