Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, has announced her decision to step down from the role after leading the world's biggest video website for the past nine years. She is one of the most prominent women in the tech world and also one of the earliest employees of Google. She will be replaced by Neal Mohan who has been with the company for over 15 years now.

In her personal update post, Wojcicki revealed she decided to step down from the position of CEO to "start a new chapter focused on my family, health, and personal projects I'm passionate about". YouTube was acquired by Google in 2006 and she took the reigns of the platform in 2014. The platform grew leaps and bounds under her leadership and now accounts for a significant portion of Alphabet's overall revenue.

Her successor Neal Mohan came to Google as part of the DoubleClick acquisition in 2007. He went on to become SVP of Display and Video Ads and then was promoted to Chief Product Officer at YouTube in 2015. He helped the company launch a wide range of products like YouTube Music, YouTube TV, YouTube Premium, and Shorts. In the meantime, he also led YouTube's Trust and Safety team.

Susan says she will support Mohan with the transition by continuing to work with some YouTube teams, coaching team members, and meeting with creators. She will then take an advisory role across Google and Alphabet and "offer counsel and guidance across Google and the portfolio of Alphabet companies".
