Meta launches paid blue tick subscription for Instagram, Facebook

20 February 2023 1

Meta has followed in the footsteps of Twitter to launch its paid account verification subscription for Instagram and Facebook. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement through the official Broadcast Channel, another new Instagram feature that debuted last week. The subscription will offer a few additional perks apart from the coveted verified blue tick.

The subscription is officially called Meta Verified and will become available soon. It will allow users to verify their account identity via a government ID as long as they are not a minor. The ID should have the same name and photo as your Instagram/Facebook user profile. Once verified, a user cannot change their profile name, username, profile photo, or date of birth without having to go through the verification process again.

All paid subscribers will get exclusive stickers for Stories and Reels along with 100 free stars each month that can be used to tip other Facebook creators. They will get direct access to customer support and extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be them.

Meta Verified will debut first in Australia and New Zealand starting this week. It will cost AUD $19.99/$24.99 and NZD $23.99/$24.99 respectively if purchased through web/smartphone apps. The increased price for transactions through apps is due to the 30% commission charged by Apple and Google. Meta has plans to expand the subscription to other regions but a timeline for the same has not been shared yet.

I get paid over 190$ per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I’ve been doing..
