Samsung has been offering Fan Edition variants of its flagships for quite some time but skipped it last year. It means while we saw the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S21 FE, there was no follow-up after that. It was likely due to the odd placement and pricing of the Galaxy S21 FE. A new rumor has emerged claiming the South Korean tech giant is ready to return with a new FE model this year.

The leak claims the upcoming phone will be called the Galaxy S23 FE with a release planned for Q3 2023. The tipster Connor (@OreXda) has tweeted that the Galaxy S23 FE will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. It is to ensure the pricing of the phone is correct which was a major reason the previously released variant did not sell in good numbers. This explains why the company has opted for an older chipset this time, even though it used to release FE phones with the same processor as that generation's Galaxy flagships.

If we talk about the processor, it is a flagship chipset developed using TSMC's 4nm fabrication process. It has powered many premium smartphones including Samsung's own foldable Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. In other words, users will not have to worry about the device's performance while opting for the FE variant.

Another important thing to note is Galaxy S23 FE is claimed to be a Galaxy A74 replacement. The latter is the phone which was supposed to launch this year but now looks like, it has been axed in the favor of a new FE offering. Nevertheless, we will keep you posted as more details emerge.
