In a new leak that has become a tradition with Google products, we have got a detailed look at the Pixel 7a design and more information about specifications. The leak is coming from a Vietnamese publication Zing News as it got hands on an actual unit of the phone meant for developers to be used as a testing device. The team went on to use the phone for several days until Google locked it remotely.
Pixel 7a hands-on images show the smartphone has a design similar to the standard Pixel 7. This is exactly what we heard in previous leaks and rumors. One can see the camera bar on the back panel along with the camera module. It has the "G" branding in the center of the back panel. The phone has volume rockers and a power button on the right side and a USB Type-C port on the bottom.
The Pixel 7a is said to sport the same 6.1-inch display as the current-gen Pixel 6a. The dual camera setup is also unchanged which means you will get a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The choice of the processor on the new phone will be Tensor G2. The unit obtained by the publication has 8GB DDR5 RAM from Samsung and 128GB onboard storage from Micron.
The report says Pixel 7a unit did not come with software access. They could enter only in the fastboot mode but there was no option to enter recovery mode or operating system. The phone has a single physical SIM card slot but it could not confirm whether there is eSIM support.
The leak further corroborates the presence of a 90Hz display on the Pixel 7a. The front panel has a punch-hole selfie camera but there are thicker bezels as usual. It is expected to get official in the coming months, more likely around the same at as Google I/O 2023 or on the same day as the event.
