WhatsApp introduced native chat transfer support between Android and iOS about a couple of months ago. It was limited to Samsung devices so far but moving forward, it has been expanded to cover the rest of the Android world. Google has announced in a blog post that WhatsApp chat transfer from iOS to Android is now available on Pixel and Android 12 devices.
The chat transfer will be available at the time of setting up a new Android smartphone. A user will also need to have a Lightning to USB Type-C cable to connect the two devices with each other. The selected Android device will show a QR code that will need to be scanned using the iPhone. Once the connection is established, the chat transfer process will begin. It will include both messages and media files that are part of your chat backup.
Google says while the chat transfer process is going on, the iOS device will not receive any new texts. This is to ensure that no messages are left behind once the transfer is complete. All your new messages will get delivered on the Android device that you are setting up. While the feature is available for all Pixel devices, it seems like it will work with only those non-Pixel Android devices that will launch with Android 12.
