Google has partnered with Android OEMs Lenovo, LG, and Sony as well as speaker maker JBL for the smart displays. The platform competes with Amazon’s Echo Show. At the Google I/O event, Google showed off that users will be able to watch YouTube TV on Smart displays. Google Assistant would allow users to walk you through steps of a recipe along with visual aids. Users will also be able to use these smart displays to see everything that your Nest cam sees.
Smart displays allow users to interact with Google Assistant via voice commands as well as see relevant information whenever needed. Users will be able to see there to do list, reminders, weather forecasts, and more on Smart Displays.
It is not clear when and which brands will launch the first wave. At CES 2018, Lenovo's Smart Display, the JBL Link View and the LG ThinQ View were showcased, so it's likely we will get these devices first.
