Google has acknowledged the issue and has released a statement saying, "We recently discovered a bug affecting SMS/MMS on a small number of Pixel 3s and are rolling out a fix soon.”
This is one of the many bugs that Google had to accept off late and it looks like the Pixel's software is still not the most finished product. Though the company has acted fast in resolving these bugs, however, unending list of issues is not definitely doing any favor to Google or the Pixel lineup which is already derided by the tech community for its un-inspiring design.

Looks like the problems for Google Pixel devices are not ending yet. There have been multiple reports of software related issues that the Pixel devices are facing like multiple notches, overheating and automatically shutting down, Pixel Stand ambient notification issue, a photo saving bug and even audio issues.
Now many Pixel owners have reported that their phones are facing a strange problem that has deleted the text messages. Some users have reported that all the messages from their device were erased and didn’t appear even after restarting the device.
Users took on to Reddit to report that his device froze in the middle of syncing process upon restarting the app some of the messages disappeared automatically. Other user reported that she lost two years of the messages from her message box. Contacting Google also didn’t help as reported by users.
Though it is still unclear that if this issue was caused by the recent November security update or it’s an issue with the messaging app itself. Some users did report that reverting to the previous version did help however it didn’t work for all the users.
