Huawei Mate 9 now receiving Android Pie based EMUI 9 update in China

28 January 2019 1

Huawei played a proactive role in updating their phones since the Android Pie update arrival. The company so far updated a number of their phones with the latest version of Android OS. Whether you like the heavily customized Android Pie based EMUI 9 or not but you have to give credit to Huawei for rolling the latest update at a very good pace. After the latest and last year flagships, the company is now rolling Android Pie update for their 2016 flagship Mate 9.

As expected the update is currently being rolled out for the Chinese owners. Its good to see Huawei rolling the latest version of Android OS for its two years old flagship. Just for the sake of reminder the Mate 9 is featuring a 5.9-inches display with Full HD screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Under the hood, the Kirin 960 SoC is powering the phone with 4GB RAM and built-in native storage is 64GB. A 4,000mAH battery is on board to keep its lights on.

The device has enough power and gigantic display to get full use of the latest flavor of Android OS. However, it lags behind in the camera section. The device was pre-installed with Android Nougat 7.0 straight out of the box, later on, the company rolled out Android Oreo update in 2018. Most likely the Android Pie will be the last major update for this device.

The latest update EMUI build number is 9.0.1.150. It is being rolled out for two Chinese variants of Mate 9 including MHA-AL00 and MHA-TL00. At the moment it is still in the dark when the company will roll out the update for the global owners. Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
