The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T may finally be receiving the long-awaited Android 9.0 Pie update as the first step towards it seems to have already started. OnePlus has recruited testers for HydrogenOS’ next update which is based on Android Pie for the Chinese region. Note that the internal testing has been underway for OxygenOS based on Android Pie but due to some issues found in the Google CTS delayed the further process.
This week a OnePlus community manager shared on forums that HydrogenOS doesn’t have to pass the CTS, so the Pie release based on HydrogenOS may come early this week.
Previously, there wasn’t any doubt on the release of the OxygenOS update based on Android Pie for the 2-year-old device but some delays made users a bit anxious about the same. But the latest update made by the community manager comes as a sigh of relief definitely. It can be now clearly seen that launch is imminent and it can happen anytime soon.
OnePlus first confirmed the Android 9.0 Pie update for the two devices back in July 2018. The company clearly said that the OnePlus 3/3T device would receive the same after OnePlus 5/5T devices only. So, it was obvious that the two devices will have to see a significant wait before making its owners happy.
