Pixel and Essential phones get April 2019 security patch update

02 April 2019 2

While the entire tech fraternity was busy playing “April Fool” spoofs, Google has rolled out April 2019 Android security patch update for Android smartphones. The latest security patch is available for the entire Pixel line of smartphones including the original Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Apart from Pixel phones, the Essential Phone has also received the update, almost at the same time. Though the Pixel C tablet from Google misses out on updates now.

The current update brings in functional patches for Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. These patches are related to Google Assistant Voice unlocking, Bluetooth connectivity, and takes of an Ambient Display related bug. It also solves the Wi-Fi connectivity issue during eSIM activation on certain carriers.

The update on Essential Phone brings in improved brightness and volume settings. If you’ve not got the update alert, check the setting on your phone or wait for a day or so for the automatic update to appear.

Whenever I read about Essential phones, I really feel sorry for them in a way. They are trying so hard to get some market share, but somehow things aren't working out for a man like Andy Rubin too.
