Xiaomi has already rolled out the stable version of the MIUI 11 to a number of its devices, including a few from Redmi as well. The company’s updated Android skin comes with a ton of new features, including a redesigned UI, Always-on Display, and more. But going by the new nightly builds, MIUI 11 will gain some more interesting features as well.
The folks over at XDA Developers have dug into the MIUI 11 nightly build to find out what’s exactly brewing. The MIUI 11 nightlies have given a shred of evidence that several new features for the MIUI 11 Camera app are yet to come.
There are three prominent Camera features that are expected to arrive soon. The first one is the Video Tagging and clear evidence of the same is found in the MIUI 11 nightly build. The strings of code include “Video Tagging.” This will let you add bookmarks to the video so that you could skip to your favorite part whenever you want. This is going to be helpful for the creators for easier editing.
Another feature is the Document and ID Card Scanning and as the name implies, you will be able to scan various documents. The new “document mode” will let you save images in black and white. The ID Copy Mode will specifically scan your ID cards. We use third-party apps like CamScanner for such features but it is good to note that Xiaomi is baking such utilities right inside its customized OS. According to the site, the ID Copy Mode includes support for double-sided shooting and it can create a 1:1 copy of an A4 ID card.
Another feature is HEIC Support for images. This high-efficiency file format will reduce the size of the images, when compared to PNG or JPG formats, without losing much detail. So you will be able to store more images in the same amount of space. You will have the option to choose the format preference within the camera settings and the option will be titled “HEIC Format” and the description reads, “Capture photos in high-efficiency HEIF format.”
It is unknown when these features will appear for every Xiaomi device running MIUI 11.
