Elon Musk's Boring Company to sell Lego rocks

28 March 2018 3

Elon Musk’s Boring company which made millions by selling branded hats and flamethrowers is now going to sell Lego-like blocks made from the waste rock that is excavated while making its tunnels.

Boring company’s tunnels will transport vehicles at super speeds of 125 mph using underground sleds. The company plans to "lifesize Lego-like interlocking bricks" from the waste rocks, which can then be used to create sculptures or buildings.

Elon Musk announced the new product and stated that the company will sell kits of bricks, which could be used to make easy things. The rocks excavated are "rated for California seismic loads" which means it is very strong, however, they are hollow from the inside which makes then light. The Boring Company had been thinking of ways to use the rocks for a while now and had stated on their website as well as in city council meetings that they plan to recycle the bedrock.

Musk tweeted, “New Boring Company merch(andise) coming soon. Lifesize LEGO-like interlocking bricks made from tunneling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings. Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.”

“First kit set will be ancient Egypt — pyramids, Sphinx, the temple of Horus, etc.,” he added in another tweet.

It’s unclear when the Boring company would start selling the rock kits and for how much. The Boring company is currently digging short, preliminary tunnels in California and Maryland.
