Fast-rising Chinese smartphone company Oppo is not only known for manufacturing smartphones, the company had a considerable success in the Blu-ray players, audio systems and headphones department. Though it seems that the company is looking forward to calling it quits on this business wing. A post on the company’s website talks about this matter saying, “As our latest 4K UHD players reach the pinnacle of their performance, it is time to say goodbye."
Back in 2016, the company initiated its smartphone sales in the United States joining the fleet of other Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, and LeEco. Though before this, Oppo enjoyed a first position in the country in the Blu-Ray players in the U.S, which was an applaudable achievement.
The latest decision to shut down the Blu-Ray player manufacturing wing means that the company would stop producing new music player product though would still continue to support the old products in and out of warranty in terms of software updates. Likewise, many products would still be on sale until they get sold out, which they won’t be restocked.
It’s pretty clear why this decision took place, considering the streaming business is on the rise and people rarely now days use downloaded audio files.
