Tambo is yet another handset maker that has entered the growing smartphones market of India. Tambo is a brand by Agaston Mobile having a joint venture with a Chinese ODM.
The company has launched three Android smartphones and 6 feature phones in the country in its first wave of launch. These three smartphones are TA 2, TA 3 and TA 4 and six feature phones are S2440, S2430, A2400, P1850, A1810 and A1800.
All the smartphones have face unlock and they all include a 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash and 4G VoLTE support. They all have dedicated music keys and include 22 language support as well.
The TA 2 has a 5.45-inch Full View, full lamination display. It is powered by 1.25GHz quad-core SoC and has a 16GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card and a 3,000mAh battery.
The Tambo TA 4 flaunts a 5.5-inch display and is powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core processor of unknown make. Apart from the 5MP selfie snapper, the device also has an 8MP rear shooter. It packs a 3,000mAh battery. The rear-mounted fingerprint sensors are only present on the TA 3 and TA 4.
The Tambo TA 4, TA 3, and TA 2 are available in Black, Champagne, and Blue and the company is calling them Superphones and the feature phones are called Powerphones. These are priced between Rs. 600 and Rs. 7000 and will be available at retail outlets spread across India. The company has also announced a scheme under which it’s offering 200 days of replacement along with one-time screen replacement within 365 days of buying the phone.
The company is aiming to have more than 600 service centers by the end of FY 2018 across the country. According to a report came in March, Tambo has earmarked an investment of Rs. 600 crore out of which the company would be spending Rs. 300 crore for setting up its own factory in Greater Noida in the third quarter.
Agaston Mobile will go for a multi-brand strategy in India as part of which it is planning to introduce another smartphone brand before Diwali where it will launch 3 smartphones in the price segment of Rs 7000 to Rs 10000. This will be a premium smartphones brand.
