Sonos speakers are finally gaining the AirPlay 2 support via an update. With the help of the AirPlay 2, users will be able to stream any sound from the iPhone or iPad to one of the compatible speakers. The AirPlay-compatible speakers include Sonos One, Sonos Beam, PlayBase, and the second generation Play: 5. Here, the AirPlay iOS app will help in instantly sending the music or any sound directly to the Sonos speaker.
Users will be able to listen to services like Apple Music, Spotify, Audible, Pandora, and dozens of others.
Sonos has described a few things in its blog following which you can do a plenty of things using the AirPlay. With the help of the AirPlay 2, you will be able to tell Siri to turn the volume down or control any other Apple Music on Sonos. You can tell Siri what and where to play it. For instance, ”Hey Siri, play Beats 1 Radio in the bedroom,” or “Hey Siri, turn it up in the living room.”
Furthermore, the AirPlay lets you watch videos on apps like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, and many others and stream the sound throughout your home on Sonos. You can watch the YouTube video on your iPhone and stream the sound on the Sonos Beam or any compatible Sonos speaker.
Also, switching between the voice assistants on the Sonos speakers is easy. For instance, if you’ve started the music with Siri, you can let Alexa adjust the volume or skip to the next song via your Sonos One, Beam, or any Alexa-enabled Sonos device.
According to Sonos, older devices won’t be receiving AirPlay 2 support but they “can reap the sonic benefits of our AirPlay 2 integration, provided they’re grouped with one of our newer.”
