A lot of Android smartphones are launched with a promise of “Timely OS updates” which rarely happens apart from the Pixel series from Google. Back in the day when the Essential phone was launched, the company made the same sort of claims. Now the company has announced Android P roll-out for its phone the same day when the OS is publically announced.
For a company that is finding hard to survive, Essential has been doing a great job with regular and fast updates. Its users will now be able to enjoy the latest OS from Google months before Samsung, LG, and other brands. Essential has not only released the latest OS update, it has also included the latest August security patch with the update.
Our Android Pie release DOES include August security patches. In our enthusiasm to get it to you as soon as humanly possible, we forgot to update the security patch string. It will be corrected in our next release. In the meantime, enjoy a slice of pie served up by Elyse. pic.twitter.com/7Rpprzeeb4

Earlier as well, when Android P developer preview was announced, Essential was one of the first company to release the beta version and its updates on a timely manner, even though the company has shelved plans of any other smartphones after the original Essential Phone.
The latest OS, Android Pie, from Google comes with a lot of intuitive features like gesture-based navigation, AI and ML powered adaptive battery and brightness settings etc. So if you have an Essential phone, you would’ve received the update by now, else just go into setting and download the update right away.

This comes out of the blue... oh...... I mean, where has the Android P come from suddenly to grace the Essential phone?
Yup. I would be lying if I said I'm not surprised. But this is certainly good news for Essential customers.
No doubt, Andy Rubin is doing all he can to keep the interest of his customers in his brand alive.
