Huawei, OPPO and VIVO may launch Smart TVs like Xiaomi

13 August 2018 3

Xioami last month revealed that they have more than 15% market share of Smart TVs in China. Since venturing into this field, Xiaomi has tasted success quite early and now it has now taken the pole position. Reports suggest that Xiaomi’s success has inspired a few more brands like Huawei, OPPO, and VIVO to test waters in the Smart TV segment.

Not it is being reported that these brands are analyzing the market and scope and if things go well, they may soon announce their entry into this domain.

Huawei, Vivo and, OPPO account for almost 70% of the market share of smartphones in China, hence they have the required infrastructure and channels already in place. All they need to do is to focus on this niche and start the process.

With the overcrowded and over saturated smartphone market, foraying into this line of business is the most practical option since all three brands have access to lots of exclusive applications and software to power their devices. This will not only give them a new product to work on but also a chance to grab some more online traffic.

Vivo, however, has quickly called this as a rumor, the company said, "This is only a rumor and there is no such news inside the company."

However, Xiaomi is not the only smartphone brand that got into Smart TVs, brands like LeEco also tried their luck in the Smart TV segment. However, its fate is not hidden from anybody. Secondly, like smartphones, even Smart TV segment has a fair share of competition already. So whichever brand ever decides to test waters will have to be mindful of these facts too.

There are a few things that we take for granted. If Xiaomi has a flagship, so will Huawei and Oppo, and Vivo. Likewise, I was already under the impression that these companies do have their smart TVs.
