Huawei has revealed a new smart speaker and a 4G LTE router at the ongoing IFA 2018. However, the best part is that these are not two devices instead of one Smart Speaker that doubles up as 4G LTE router and features Amazon Alexa voice assistant.
The AI Cube comes with a 15W mono speaker, four microphones, Huawei Histen technology that offers virtual bass, far-field voice recognition and adaptive gain and more.
In terms of looks, the Huawei AI Cube looks quite similar to the Google Home however with additional features like LTE Cat 6 modem and an 802.11ac WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac that works on both frequency ranges - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The smart speaker can take a LAN cable with speeds of up to 1,200Mbps.
The AI Cube will be launched first in Europe during the Christmas season, however, there is no confirmation about its availability in other regions and Huawei has not yet revealed the pricing as well.
The value Smart home speaker market is said to go up to $17.4 billion in 2022 from $4.4 billion in 2017. Even Google is betting big on this and is said to be working on a smart speaker with a touchscreen display.
