Remember Honor 8? The one that was launched in July 2016 has got an Android 8 Oreo update. The update is being rolled out in a phased manner and users in India, France and Germany have already reported receiving it. Though it was initially announced that the phone will not get any firmware updates beyond Android 7.1 Nougat. However, things changed and now the update has arrived.
Devices launched around the same time like the Honor 8 Lite and Honor 8 Pro received Oreo update, however, Honor 8 users were left disappointed when the company announced that the phone may never receive Android 8 Oreo due to hardware limitations.
The update is of almost 2.3GB in size, can be downloaded via OTA or by connecting the device to the computer via Huawei’s pc suite HiSuite, as reported by some users.
Though most of the current devices are getting a taste of Android 9 Pie, this firmware update will give a new life to the aging Honor 8.
