Bixby, Samsung’s attempt at a virtual voice assistant, can be of so much help and yet such a pain at the same time. The annoying part doesn’t lie exactly with the voice assistant in particular but mainly in the Bixby button which launches the voice assistant. A single touch of the Bixby button launches the assistant. This button is found both on the Galaxy S9, S9+ and the Note 9. Most users have complained regarding the inability to disable the button on the Note 9 like how it can be done on the Galaxy S9+.
This is mainly because users want to prevent accidental touch of the button and launch of Bixby, the voice assistant. Samsung has come out with a temporary software option for its Galaxy Note 9 users who unlike the Galaxy S9+ users cannot disable the button's functionality. The update is for the Bixby app on Galaxy Note 9 devices. This allows Galaxy Note 9 users to set the option of pressing the button twice to launch Bixby, reducing the possibility of an accidental single touch.
At least giving users the option to launch the voice command through a double touch of the Bixby button is somewhat of a fix for Galaxy Note 9 users. Perhaps, in time Samsung would allow users to just disable the button!
