ZTE’s last attempt of making a multiple display phone tanked big time. The Axon M looked like two separate devices being held together and the design made little sense. Off late we’ve been seeing leaked images and videos of yet another multi-display device till now called as Nubia Z18s. However, now ZTE led Nubia has announced that it will launch this device as Nubia X on October 31 marking the sixth anniversary of the manufacturer.
The phone as leaked earlier adopts a very unique approach to achieve near bezel-less design. The front of the device is devoid any front-facing camera sensors neither in form of a notch or any mechanical pop-up design like a Vivo NEX or OPPO Find X. Instead there is a secondary almost full-sized display at the back that covers the entire rear side of the device and can be used to take selfies. While the No notch brigade may call it one of the best solution, we need to be ready for double the damage in case the phone falls on a concrete surface.
Incidentally, Nubia X is not the first phone ever to house a dual display design. The Russian brand Yotaphone has already done this and very recently, Meizu also announced the Pro 7. However the Nubia X unlike all these sports a full-fledged color display at the back.
Talking about the specifications, the Nubia X is said to feature a large 6.26-FHD+ LCD display at the front, while at the back we may see a 5.1-inch HD+ OLED display. Hopefully, the OLED display is able to limit the battery consumption. In terms of optics, the phone may have a dual rear camera setup with 24-megapixel and a 16-megapixel sensor.
Other specifications may include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6 or 8 GB of RAM couples with 64GB or 128 GB of internal storage along with a 3,800 mAh battery pack. The initial images and videos do not reveal the presence of a fingerprint sensor, it could be housed either under the display or at the side under the power button. The Nubia X is said to come in Black and Gold color options and is said to be only 8.6 millimeters thick despite it housing dual displays.
