Google Pixel 3 gets a transparent glass back via this treatment

24 October 2018 3

Like many other smartphones, the Pixel 3 also gets its version with a transparent back, thanks to the YouTuber JerryRigEverything. The transparent back gives a see-through look of the phone and one can peep into the hardware world of the phone. After removing the building materials that are holding the back of the Pixel 3 phone, a clear and transparent back cover appears. This offers a visible look at the NFC antenna, wireless charging coil, and many such other components.

First off, to remove the back cover of the Pixel 3, the YouTuber applies the heat and later uses a suction cup and a razor blade combination. The YouTuber slides the blade through the sides of the glass back to take it out completely. The back cover comes off and gives us a look at the innards of the device.

The fingerprint scanner ribbon is sticking on the back with the motherboard available on the rest of the phone. Firstly, it needs to be taken off so as to make use of the back cover only for the transparent version.

The YouTuber then puts off the camera module and fingerprint scanner module to have a completely clean glass back of the Pixel 3. The material used inside the back cover by Google is quite stubborn and requires continuous scratching. The hard part is to remove it from the edges which take much time. The YouTuber says it takes him close to 45 minutes to completely make it’s a transparent back. Once the back is free from its black colored material, you will be able to see the frosted glass and the clear glass panel.

Would you like to have this clear back panel for your device too? Let us know using the comments section below.
