AMD announced its first-ever 7nm server CPU based on the newest Zen 2 architecture and along with this the company also unveiled the GPU but it isn’t meant for the gaming sector as of now, at least. The name of this GPU is Radeon Instinct MI60 and there’s one more which got announced during the event, it’s MI50 graphics card based on 14nm process.
The Radeon Instinct MI60 GPU is based on the advanced Vega architecture and is the first PCIe 4.0 GPU on the market.AMD presented its new GPU roadmap, according to which the shipping of MI60 will happen this quarter. "MI-Next" is in development, but with no firm date given for delivery.
These two new datacenter-oriented GPUs are aimed at machine learning, high-performance computing, and rendering applications. The cards will support a wide range of data types for computation; for neural networks and machine learning.
These two new GPUs also include built-in support for virtualization, allowing one card to be securely shared between multiple virtual machines.
The MI60 will ship to datacenter customers by the end of the year and the MI50 is coming a little later but should be available by the end of Q1 2019.
