OPPO R19 might boast MediaTek Helio P80, making it the first smartphone to do so

Chinese smartphone manufacturers like OPPO are pacing fast towards becoming major smartphone brands in the world through their affordable price points and keeping up with the latest trends and innovation. We previously we found out how OPPO might be working on an open-hole camera in the shape of OPPO R19 which might be launching in the upcoming year.


OPPO R19 (featuring open-hole camera) is expected to sport Helio P80 chipset from the Taiwanese chipset manufacturer which has begun focusing on developing chipsets for the mid-range smartphone market. The company wasn’t quite successfully with its flagship Helio X30 chipset and thus changed its market focus. MediaTek first launched Helio P30 followed by Helio P60 and then the Helio P70 came forward, all receiving pretty strong feedback from industry.

Considering the success of the mid-ranged chipset series, MediaTek is aiming to now release Helio P80 SoC based upon TSMC’s 12nm process where AI performance will be improved and upgrading the architecture as well. Helio P80 which performed much better than the Kirin 980 when it comes to AI performance which further puts weight behind this technology.
