Samsung has announced the launch date of its upcoming Galaxy smartphone. This announcement ensures that Samsung will indeed be the first manufacturer to launch a smartphone with a hole in its display. Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei is also trying to launch one such device called Nova 4, however, it is scheduled to launch on December 17. Samsung, on the other hand, has announced that the Galaxy A8s will be unveiled on December 10. It looks like Samsung was waiting for Huawei to announce the launch date and then beat it
The poster released on Samsung’s Weibo account reveals the design and shows off the notch-less display with a hole at the top left corner housing the front-facing camera. The poster has “Real Galaxy” written on the phones’ display while at the bottom it says “Insight to the future” in Chinese.
Talking about the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A8s may have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The display on the phone is said to be a 6.39-inches tall one from BOE with a hole at the top left corner to house the 24MP selfie camera. Samsung calls it the Infinity-O display. The phone is speculated to house a triple rear camera setup with a 25MP + 5MP + 10MP configuration. It may be powered by a 3400 mAh battery and may not have a headphone jack making it Samsung’s first phone to do so.

Now it would also be very interesting to see how Samsung prices this phone. Since the time its mobile chief DJ Koh had announced that the company is putting a lot of focus on the mid-budget segment, it has launched a few interesting devices like the world’s first Quad camera totting Galaxy A9 and the Galaxy A7 with a triple camera setup. However, pricing would be another factor that would determine the success of these devices.
