Honor Magic 2 update adds ability to measure calorie and weight of food items

04 December 2018 3

The Honor Magic 2 is one of the latest Android phones in the market that comes with a bezel-less display. The main highlight of the device is its sliding camera that has helped the company in achieving a totally bezel-free display. However, the device also includes Huawei’s AI-powered features like scene detection and live call translation. Now, the device is receiving more features that increase its productivity.

As the Honor Magic 2’s cameras have AI features, these could help in calculating the food calories and weight. The update brings the device to version COOE131R1P19 and it weighs in at roughly 591MB. The device is able to measure the food items when you place the camera on them but it doesn’t get the success always. For instance, it recognized an onion as a dumpling. So, it’s not accurate for now and is more like a software gimmick.

This feature could be helpful in many ways, for instance, it could help the people on a diet who intake calories after measuring, but only if this feature is accurate.

These new features have been added to HiVision which is basically the answer to Google Lens and comes as a part of the larger HiAssistant package.
