Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G smartphone video calling demoed at conference in China

Xiaomi has demonstrated its 5G technology on its Mi MIX 3 5G variant at the China Mobile Partner Conference. The conference is being held in Guangzhou, China. The company has in a way, taken the covers off of its upcoming 5G variant in its public demo at the event in China. The Mi MIX 3 smartphone received a lot of popularity and has paved the way for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G variant. The device was earlier confirmed through an image posted by the President of the company. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G smartphone will be the first-ever smartphone to launch with 5G support and will arrive in Q1 2019.


At the conference, the company demonstrated web browsing and video calling to showcase what users can expect from a retail version of the smartphone. Apart from the new Snapdragon 855 chipset housed in the Mi MIX 3 5G, all other specifications remain exactly the same as the regular variant. The Snapdragon 855 SoC is a promising chipset and uses the X50 LTE modem to support 5G networks. The new 5G network allows for a maximum download speed of up to 2Gbps. The 5G variant of the smartphone has a ceramic body and implements the same front camera sliding technology as the regular version of the device.

The smartphone sports a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone will be available with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Mi MIX 3 5G variant will feature a dual 12MP rear camera setup and a dual front-facing selfie shooter setup of 24MP + 12MP. Juicing the device will be a 3,200mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0.

Placing a call on a 5G network is the ultimate test because finally, it's a smartphone and its basic feature is what makes it so. Sounds like most things are in place now.
