Xiaomi's 48MP camera phone with a display hole to come from Redmi series | Report

11 December 2018 2

Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to launch a smartphone with a 48MP rear camera. However, it’s unknown when it may happen but in its competition, we do have a name to suggest which could be Honor with its View 20 phone. Well, while Honor has detailed much about this expected phone already, Xiaomi’s 48MP camera phone’s details are still under cover.

Now, according to a report from MyDrivers, citing people familiar with the development, the device in question could come from Xiaomi’s Redmi series. Also, the report claims the device has a hole in the display which will include the front-facing camera sensor. The hole is reportedly situated at the top-left side of the phone.

This Xiaomi Redmi phone is said to have a chin below its display panel. This suggests the phone will feature a full-screen experience. The phone s also rumored to include triple rear cameras, similar to the Galaxy A7 (2018). One of the cameras out of the three will definitely be 48MP, of course, and it’s yet to be seen what would be the other configurations. According to the rumors, there will also be a super wide-angle lens to capture wider shots than an average.

Xiaomi President Lin Bin has already confirmed the development of the 48MP camera phone.

This Xiaomi Redmi phone is expected to feature the LCD panel which will be supplied by Chinese display maker BOE Technology.

It’s also speculated that the new Redmi model will be the first in its family to come with a glass back. However, it’s unclear whether the glass back design will be used to enable wireless charging support.
