Huawei Smart TVs may be called as Huawei AI Window

12 December 2018 2

Chinese Huawei is already one of the leading brands in Smartphones and other connectivity devices, however, it is now planning its foray into Smart LED TVs. Like the smartphones, these TVs are said to be AI-powered and the company has just filed a trademark for the name “Huawei AI Window”.

Earlier, we reported that Huawei along with a couple of other Chinese smartphone brands was analyzing the Smart TV market. It was later confirmed by Huawei’s VP of Sales and Marketing in India when he announced that the company may launch Honor branded smart TV’s in India next year.

The current reports are strikingly in contrast to the earlier announcement and it looks like Huawei may introduce Smart TVs under its own branding. Though at this point in time, we do not have much information about what both the brands are planning, however, going by the documentation during the filing of trademark, the company suggests that the smart TVs could be launched in around six months.

The company had recently announced that it has developed a new AI-assistant like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant and will be made available for the global audience. However, it is not yet ready for a deployment, Huawei clarified. If this smart assistant is ready by the time the TV’s are, then it may arrive with the TV otherwise, Huawei may have to opt for either Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant.

Another smartphone brand OnePlus had also announced that it will launch an AI-powered Smart TV in 2019 which will work seamlessly with Smartphones. It would be interesting to see which brand launches it’s Smart TV first in a bid to gain more prominence in your drawing room.

Let us know your thoughts.
