Lenovo Smart Display bug that dropped volume is finally fixed, update coming soon

13 December 2018 1

CES 2018 brought a lot of amazing products to the surface and one of them was a smart display from Lenovo. While the device was quite well taken by the fans, it showed up few hiccups later on. Lenovo smart display offered Google Assistant support allowing to harness the world of internet with simple voice-enabled keywords. The assistant would brief you with the weather, your meetings, traffic status and more while you could also make video calls via Google Duo, watch YouTube videos or listen to music.

Apart from all such goodies, the device showed up a strange bug that has affected a major portion of the units. Upon summoning Google assistant, it would begin its response with zero percent volume which then begins to increase gradually. This bug has been reported by various users around the world, though the company has updated that the bug has been resolved.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for confirming that the issue still has not been resolved.

A firmware update will be released and pushed to your devices. I do not have a timeline but I am letting you know that issue has been identified and patched. [...] Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Currently its yet not known if this update is part of the R5 upgrade or it would come as a separate update, though whatever the case might be, the fix is on the way.
