Cortana is Microsoft’s very own virtual voice assistant. Microsoft is still working on improving Cortana and is doing so by bringing to it a neat and useful feature. Though Cortana has already existed in Outlook before, Microsoft is making it play a much bigger role. Rumour has it that Cortana will be able to read out Outlook emails to you. Whether in your car or at the office, Cortana will soon be able to read out your most important emails, saving you the time of having to read them yourself.
Rumour has it that this feature exists in the v3.3 Cortana internal build. The feature is quite smart as it recognizes a connection made to your headphones through Bluetooth and begins to read new emails for you. There is even a tab next to each email indicating the exact amount of playback time. This lets you know if the email is short or long.
Cortana reads out the emails in a very natural tone. Users have the option of skipping emails by swiping on the screen. At the end of each read email, Cortana will wait for a moment for the user to respond with either "delete," "reply," or "flag.". If the users don't respond, Cortana will continue to read the next email. Overall, the feature is rumoured to work very well. Unfortunately, as of now, there is no estimated arrival time for it in a public build. Let’s hope the update arrives by the end of the year!
