Apple may come with a full-screen display device, reveals patent

03 January 2019 4

A patent filed by Apple all the way back in 2016 has just been granted. The patent is for a mysterious smartphone with features a dual-rear camera and a headphone jack. Unfortunately, the patent doesn’t mention the name of the smartphone but it does include a few renders. This will reveal unreleased and mysterious smartphone which Apple intends to release a few years back.

One extremely noticeable feature is the edge-to-edge display. The image reveals the absence of a notch and a bezel-less display. If Apple still intends to go through with this idea, the company will probably make use of an on-screen front camera. An on-screen-front camera is quite a rarity but it has been done before by Samsung with its Galaxy A8s. The rear side of the device is slightly curved and houses a dual-rear camera setup which is horizontally aligned. One surprising feature is the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Right next to the headphone jack is the charging port. The volume rockers are placed on the right side of the device with the power button being positioned at the top edge.

The patent doesn’t reveal any hardware specifications about the smartphone. The overall design and look of the smartphone feels quite obsolete. Keeping this in mind, there’s a high probability that this device won’t make it to the shelves. Apple is currently working on having a cut-out in the display for housing the front-camera. In comparison to this, the 2016 filed patent is definitely dated!
