A report from India claims that Samsung’s new foldable device will become official in India this year. Along with it, the Samsung Galaxy A50 will also be launched in the country in 2019. According to the source, this will come to bay once both smartphones have been made official globally. Out of these two smartphones, it’s the Samsung Fold which will garner more attention. Well, after all, it will be Samsung’s first-ever foldable smartphone to make it to the market.
While the release date for the Galaxy A50 is still unknown, the Galaxy Fold smartphone is rumoured to release in the first quarter of 2019. Since the Galaxy S10 series is expected to grace the stage at MWC 2019 so its highly unlikely that the Galaxy Fold will be released during the same event. The company did give the world a glimpse of its upcoming foldable smartphone during its developer conference. However, the device could barely be seen courtesy of a heavy-duty phone case. The smartphone folds down the middle and when this is done, the secondary display begins to work. When the smartphone is unfolded, the secondary display shuts down and the phone’s main screen gets activated. Considering the technology involved in getting this device to function properly, there’s no doubt that Samsung is going to charge an exorbitant price for it. As of now, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is rumoured to be priced around $2000.
In all probability, the Samsung Galaxy Fold will be driven by either the Snapdragon 855 SoC or the Exynos 9820. The smartphone will run on Android and is likely to have a pretty large capacity battery of either 5,000mAh or 6,000mAh. Not much is known about the Samsung Galaxy A50 either, However, we do know that it is a mid-range device and is likely to be powered by the Exynos 9610 SoC. Coupled with this may be 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB internal storage. Rumour has it that the smartphone will launch with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Well, the only way to know if any of this is actually true is to wait until both devices are officially released!
