OnePlus 3 and 3T spotted on Geekbench with Android 9.0 Pie

08 January 2019 2

The OnePlus 3 and 3T launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This made is quite unexpected for the company to announce that both smartphones would be receiving the Android 9.0 Pie software update. Most smartphone manufacturers stop at two major OS updates. However, OnePlus is looking to stand out from the crowd and bring Android Pie to its OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Well, OnePlus 3 and 3T owners may not be far away from receiving an official update to Android Pie since both smartphones have been spotted on Geekbench with the latest version of Android.

Both devices have been spotted on Geekbench running on Android Pie. The OnePlus 3 Geekbench run was performed on January 3rd while the OnePlus 3T was done on December 27th. At present, both devices are running on Oxygen OS 5.0.8, based on Android 8.0 Oreo. OnePlus has held back on the Android 8.1 Oreo update because it will be launching Android 9.0 Pie for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. One thing is for sure, Android 9.0 Pie will definitely instil a breath of fresh air into both devices.

Apart from bringing with it a ton of new features, it will also in all likelihood, bring with it the latest Android security patch. Both smartphones are still pretty capable of maintaining decent performance even in today’s day and age. The Android 9.0 pie update may be arriving sooner than expected to the OnePlus 3 and 3T
